Creating Custom Reports

Surpass Central includes some very powerful and flexible tools for designing your own reports to create virtually any type of report you can imagine, for whatever purpose you might have in mind. The possibilities are endless, but might seem overwhelming at first. Our goal for this webinar will be to help participants become comfortable and proficient with the tools at hand and to be able to fulfill their own information reporting needs, whatever those might be. Rather than focusing on creating a specific type of report, we’ll be teaching you how to use Central’s features to create any report you might need.

Inventory and End-of-Year Tasks in Surpass

The end of the school year is a very busy time for school media specialists. Other types of libraries also have inventory and other Surpass "housekeeping" tasks to do, generally on a yearly basis. We’ll make sure you’re prepared with all the knowledge you’ll need to accomplish common end-of-year tasks such as inventory, managing student/patron records, and other “spring cleaning” periodic maintenance for your Surpass database. Customizing Safari Special Topic: The "Explore" feature

Safari is all about customizability, and in this webinar, we’ll focus in-depth on one very versatile feature of Safari. Safari’s “Explore” feature provides patrons with an alternative means of navigating your library’s collection in a more visual way by clicking on graphical buttons that are tied to specific topics, reading lists, or other library resources. While Safari comes with a useful “starter set” of buttons, your patrons can get more mileage out of using the Explore feature if you customize it to reflect your library’s holdings and your patrons’ needs and interests. You can create your own Explore buttons with customized graphics, change the functions of the buttons so that they bring up the results that you want patrons to see, and even change the entire navigational structure to better suit your library’s needs. You’ll learn how to do all that and more in this webinar.

Having an understanding of how Bookbags and Patron Groups work can save you time and provide greater flexibility in cataloging, creating reading lists, circulation, reports, and a variety of other tasks. Library Trek in Action!

We have designed Surpass Library Trek for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to be as user-friendly and intuitive as possible for your patrons. Using Library Trek on their iOS devices, your patrons will be able to search your collection, check their accounts, renew items, place holds, and even scan barcodes at bookstores to see whether a book they are considering is available at the library.

Introducing New Features: Cover Art and Family Relationships

Surpass Central 6.20 includes two exciting new features which many Surpass users have been requesting: Cover Art and Family Relationships. In this webinar, we’ll teach you the ins and outs of both of these new features. You’ll learn to use the Cover Art feature to spruce up your Surpass software by replacing those generic icons for your materials with cover images acquired from your own sources. We’ll also teach you how to use the Family features to keep track of family relationships among your patrons (spouses, children, etc.). You’ll be able to set up policies that can help you to alert a patron of a family member’s fines or overdues. Do you want to hold parents accountable for their children’s checkouts, for instance? Now, in Central 6.20, you can!
